Private metering for South Africans.
Stop guessing what your electricity should cost.
Sparks installs a certified sub-meter at your DB board, measures exactly what you use, reconciles it against Eskom's or your landlord's tariff and the maximum the rules allow. You receive a timestamped, dispute-ready report.

01
Measure
A certified meter, not an estimate.
A licensed electrician installs a MID-certified sub-meter and gateway at your DB board — commissioned and online within a couple of hours. It records energy consumption every minute, and continues collecting data offline through outages.
- —kWh, kVA and kVArh at 1-minute resolution
- —Offline buffering + sync on reconnect
- —Demand aggregated to your landlord's exact billing window
02
Reconcile
Every line of the bill, checked.
When the landlord invoice arrives, upload the PDF. Sparks reads it in seconds, then computes what the period should have cost — against your landlord's stated tariff and against the official Eskom or municipal schedule for your supply area, matched to the same demand interval your landlord bills on.
- —AI invoice parsing — you confirm, nothing locks without you
- —Landlord tariff vs. official schedule, side by side
- —Impermissible add-on charges flagged
03
Dispute
Evidence, sealed and timestamped.
Every submitted bill is reviewed by Sparks. Once the reconciliation is confirmed, you get a sealed, timestamped PDF — measured usage, expected charges, and the discrepancy — ready to put in front of centre management, with the NERSA recourse path included.
- —Human-reviewed before anything is released
- —Timestamped, versioned, dispute-grade
- —Outcome delivered to your inbox and in-app alerts

Questions, answered.
Is the meter credible enough to dispute a bill with?+
Yes — we only install the MID-certified variant of the meter, fitted by a licensed electrician with correctly sized CTs on the correct phases. Combined with 1-minute logging, gap detection and demand windows matched to your landlord's billing interval, the readings are dispute-grade evidence, not an estimate.
Does this replace my landlord's meter?+
No. Sparks is a private check-meter installed at your own DB board. Nothing about your supply, your landlord's meter, or your billing arrangement changes — we simply measure independently so the bill can be verified.
What happens when connectivity drops?+
The gateway connects over Wi-Fi, buffers readings locally during any outage, and syncs the moment it reconnects. If a genuine gap ever occurs, it's detected and flagged openly on your record — hidden gaps would undermine your evidence, so we treat them as first-class events.
Is Sparks giving me legal advice?+
No. Sparks produces measured, timestamped evidence of what you used and what it should have cost. The report includes the NERSA recourse path (tenant → reseller → distributor → NERSA), but the dispute itself is yours — or your attorney's — to run.
Who is Sparks for?+
Commercial tenants billed through a landlord or centre-management sub-meter — our first customers are restaurants in shopping centres, where heavy refrigeration and HVAC loads meet custom tariff schedules. If you get an electricity bill you can't verify, Sparks is for you.
What do I actually have to do each month?+
One thing: upload the landlord invoice when it arrives and confirm what our parser read. Sparks does the rest — reconciliation, review, and the sealed report delivered to your inbox.
